Carlos Jurado

Baritone

He studied at the Schola Cantorum de México (2008-2014). Has won the scholarships of the Bologna International Opera Academy, the MOS Mexico Opera Studio and the SIVAM. Has participated with National Opera Company of Mexico, with the National Symphony Orchestra, and the Carlos Chávez Youth Orchestra.

Performed roles: 

Papagueno (Die Zauberflöte); Gustav Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder cycle; Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle; Mexican 19th Century Operas: Reynaldo y Elina (Manuel Covarrubias, 1837) and Catalina de Guisa (Cenobio Paniagua, 1859); Fauré’s Requiem; The Infant Ministrel and his Peculiar Menagerie by Russian composer Lera Auerbach (premiere in Mexico) and main role of Don Giovanni by Mozart.

Awards: 

Special Prize at the 2018 Bologna International Vocal Competition; First Prize at the Ibero-American Song Contest; Young Revelation at the XXXV National Singing Contest Carlo Morelli. He was also a finalist at the Accademia del Teatro del Maggio Musicale auditions in 2018.
